Newark Medical Practice

About Newark Medical Practice

Our enthusiastic and friendly practice is one of 3 practices contained within a purpose-built Health Centre in the heart of Port Glasgow. We are an urban practice with a list size of approximately 4000 patients. The Health Centre was built in 1978 and  relocated in April 2009 to refurbished premises within the Health Centre.

Our Health Centre has physiotherapy, social work, speech and language therapy and chiropody services on site. In addition to this there is an excellent smoking cessation service locally and we have access to the Glasgow Weight Management Service and the Live Active scheme for our patients.

Amongst our practice staff we have 3 Part-Time GPs, 1 Full-Time GP, a Nurse Practitioner, a Health Care Support Worker, Practice Manager, Deputy Practice Manager and 5 Reception Staff.

As of February 2022 we have been approved as an accredited training practice. From August 2022 we will welcome 2 trainee GP’s; Dr Sarah Miller is in her final registrar year and will be here part-time over the next 2 years to complete her training and Dr Kris McArdle will be here for 6 months initially in his 1st GP rotation and then will join us again for his final registrar year. They are both qualified doctor’s who have chosen to train to be GP’s and so you may be offered an appointment with them. Drs Stewart, Yeoman and Anderson will be supervising their training. For training purposes, from time to time the trainees may ask for your consent to video your consultation. These videos are confidential and used solely for training purposes. You will be asked to sign a consent form to agree to this but can decline if you would prefer not to be filmed.

Attached to the practice we also have a District Nursing team,  Health Visitors , a Community Pharmacist, a Community Links Worker and 2 Community Psychiatric Nurses.

Additionally we share Treatment Room facilities and a Phlebotomy Clinic with the other practices within the Health Centre.
